Help! I’m a puppy trapped in a 14-year old body! My name is Shep, and I am just about the sweetest thing you can imagine. I love to chase the ball, play tug, carry and play with the jolly ball, follow you around, be brushed, be scratched/petted, and want to share whatever you are eating.I am housetrained. I pull on a leash and am away stronger that you think I’d be. My mom walks me on a pinch collar and I do well on that, especially when I see other dogs. Sometimes we walk up to 2 miles at a time (up to 3 miles a day). I get along great with other dogs (in the house/yard), and people of all ages.I am not neutered, and am told that I’m too old at this point to risk it. I have cataracts, and havemedicine for that. I also have some mild/moderate hip dysplasia, but I don’t let that slow medown. For the first week at my foster mom’s house, I didn’t want to use the back steps (my nails were a little long, and foster mom is working on this), so I just jumped off and on the deck (about 20 inches). I can get up and down the carpeted stairs in my foster mom’s house without a problem. Sometime when my hips are tired, I will sleep downstairs at night. My foster mom has a nice orthopedic dog bed upstairs and downstairs for wherever I decide to sleep. I always sleep through the night, and have done fine in the house on the days when mom has to work longer hours.Don’t think that because I am old, that I’m quiet! I have a lot of personality/spunk and want tomake sure that you know I’m there. If I think you need to pay attention to me, I’ll just sit there and bark. With my cataracts, I sometimes think that I see things outside, so I’ll bark just in case.I am being fostered in Yorktown, VA.
